Travel Information and Hotels

Travel information: Bath and the surrounding area couldn't be easier to get to - less than 2 hours from London, with excellent road and rail links. (See below for further information)

Accommodation: Accommodation can be booked through the Visit Bath website. A wide range of hotels in and around Bath are available and early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. Information on all aspects of your visit to Bath can also be found on the Visit Bath website.

Travelling to Bath by Rail:

There are regular train services direct from London Paddington and Waterloo to Bath Spa Station, with an average journey time of around 90 minutes.

Bristol Temple Meads, just 15 minutes away by train, is also a major hub for travel to all other parts of the country.

Travelling to Bath by Bus / Coach:

National Express provides good-value coach travel linking all major towns and cities in the UK. Frequent services run from London Victoria Coach Station, London Heathrow and London Gatwick to Bath.

Travelling to Bath by Car:

Bath is located just 10 miles from junction 18 of the M4 motorway which runs direct from London and Heathrow. There are also excellent motorway links from the North and Devon and Cornwall via the M5 motorway, whilst Wales is just a short drive west on the M4.

Travelling to Bath by Air:

Bristol International Airport, just 15 miles from Bath, is one of Britain's fastest growing airports, serving over 68 direct destinations and 300 worldwide destinations via the hub system using Amsterdam and Brussels.

For travel to Bath from Bristol International Airport the Bristol International Flyer express coach service picks up passengers outside the airport every 30 minutes, from 02.30 - 23.45, 7 days a week. The bus then drops passengers at Bristol Temple Meads Station, where you can catch one of the many frequent train services into Bath Spa Station (journey time approximately 15 minutes).

For travel to Bath from Gatwick Airport or Heathrow Airport, a regular coach service runs from Gatwick via Heathrow to the train station at Reading, where you can pick up a direct train to Bath Spa Station. Alternatively, an express train service from both airports goes direct to central London, where you can use the Underground to travel to Paddington Station and then catch a direct train to Bath Spa Station.

Travelling to Bath by Sea:

The closest ferry ports are located in Portsmouth approximately 80 miles/130 km away (for boats to mainland Europe) and Fishguard approximately 140 miles/250 km away (for boats to Ireland). The major port of Dover is 190 miles/305 km away.
